Terms for SAC Representatives

There was a question about the term length of the SAC representatives. The bylaws were reviewed and it was confirmed that the term length is 3 years. Kelly will update the term dates on the website.

Spring Fling

The survey responses for Spring Fling were collected and will be sent to Stu Hain and Linda McDougall for their review.

Crafts for CHOP Project

Cathy Powell attended the meeting to talk about the Crafts for Chop project. Her fall campaign netted 10 boxes of crafts for the children with pediatric cancer at CHOP. Her goal right now is to do a drive in March and September. Cathy said that there are 3 hospitals, CHOP, Alfred I. duPont and St Christophers, that all treat pediatric cancer in this area and her hope for now is to donate to one hospital at a time, duPont being next. SAC offered to host drop off points in their circles to make collecting the crafts easier. It was suggested that she may want to think about having have a booth during the Staff Development Week Employee Showcase so the community could learn more about her efforts.

Staff Development Week Employee Showcase

Employees who are passionate about their outside hobbies, special talents and interests, should contact Pam Harris (pharris1) to sign up for the Employee Showcase. Also, if you would like to nominate a college employee for the Showcase, you may contact Pam as well. This year’s showcase will be held on Wednesday, January 12 @ 1:15-3:15p.m in the Eldridge Commons of the Science Center.

Winter Gathering

The Holiday Gathering will be on Tuesday, December 6th at 10:00 AM in the Lang Concert Hall. SAC representatives should arrive 15 minutes prior to help with program distribution.

Update on Parrish Rest Rooms

Patti Shields informed us that there is now a sign posted in the 2nd floor Parrish restrooms with information about contacting EVS if there is an issue with the cleanliness of the rest room.

HR Candidate Open Forums

SAC discussed some feedback in circles that although staff from all departments were encouraged to attend, some staff were not attending because they didn’t feel it would make a difference. Also, it is believed that some staff in departments such as Facilities, Dining, and EVS have a harder time attending due to their work schedules. So a suggestion was made that possibly next time we have the candidates visit those individual departments, or that those departments select 3 to 4 representatives to attend the open forums. It was also asked that the surveys to be completed after the open forums be available in paper form for staff who do not always interact with a computer and also for those who may not be comfortable filling out surveys online.

Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:45am.

Next meeting will be on December 21, 2011 at 9:30 in Scheuer.

Respectfully submitted,
Kelly Fitzpatrick
Whittier Circle Representative
