The Rare Book Room contains a diverse array of materials, including College and student publications, as well as notable collections such as those listed below. It also features works by individuals including James Michener (Class of 1923), John James Audubon, Edgar Allan Poe, and many others.

The poet W.H. Auden H’64 taught at Swarthmore from 1942 through 1945. This collection features rare documents and unique artifacts including his manuscript notebook of poems written from 1932-1934 and his typewriter..
