Nate Miller joined Swarthmore College in 2013 as the Dean of the Senior Class and Director of Student Conduct, and currently serves as the Senior Associate Dean of Student Life, where he oversees the Department of Student Life. The Department of Student Life includes the Office of Student Engagement (OSE): a combined office of Student Activities & Leadership and Residential Communities; the Office of Student Conduct; the Office of Case Management, which supports the College’s student conduct, bias response, and Title IX processes, and the Inclusive Excellence Fellowship Initiative.
Prior to his arrival at Swarthmore, Miller served as the director of undergraduate judicial affairs at Dartmouth College, where he had worked since 2008. There he oversaw the entire college undergraduate judicial process.
Previously at the University of Alaska, Anchorage, he served as the assistant director of student judicial services (2006-2008) and as residence coordinator/first-year experience coordinator (2004-2006). At UAA, he also developed a peer mentor academic outreach program and collaborated with Native Student Services to provide weekly Alaska Native cultural events and activities.
Miller's additional professional experiences include serving as an area coordinator and assistant wrestling coach at St. Olaf College. He has also presented trainings, through ASCA, ATIXA, and NABITA, on a broad range of topics including sexual misconduct, behavioral intervention, academic integrity, and drugs and alcohol, among others.
Miller received his B.A. from St. Olaf College, his M.S. in counseling and student personnel: college student affairs from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and his Ed.D. in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania.
