Off-Campus Resources

Some students may seek support from resources outside of the Swarthmore campus. See below for information about community medical providers, study abroad resources, and off-campus confidential and legal options.

Community Medical Providers

These are the current local hospitals who can provide emergency and/or follow-up medical services, provide a forum to discuss health care concerns related to an incident, and identify as having Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) who are trained to work to collect evidence in a manner consistent with evidence-collecting requirements in Pennsylvania.

Under Pennsylvania law, a medical provider may be required to notify law enforcement of a sexual assault under certain circumstances. The medical provider, however, will share only limited information with law enforcement and a victim can decline to speak with law enforcement or participate in a criminal prosecution.
