Christopher Pelling, Regius Professor of Greek at Christ Church, Oxford, presents the fourteenth annual Helen F. North Memorial Lecture. Prior to returning to Christ Church in 2003, Pelling began his career in the 70's as a Senior Scholar, which led to a twenty-nine year stint as Fellow and Praelector in Classics at University College. His reasearch interests include Greek and Latin historiagraphy, biography and literatures. Among his published works are *Plutarch: Life of Antony* (1988), *Literary Texts and the Greek Historian* (2000), and *Plutarch and History* (2002).
