Sharon Roseman Buckingham ’81 and Stephen Buckingham ’84

Stephen was "the old guy" when he arrived as part of the Class of 1983, having done construction work for five years after high school. I worked in the post office in the fall of 1979 when he came to the window, gave me 13 pennies, and asked for a 13-cent stamp. I told him that if he gave me 13 pennies, I had to give him 13 one-cent stamps. He gave me a strange look (as was appropriate), I gave him one 13-cent stamp, and it took me almost two more years to be introduced to him, on Parrish Lawn, in the spring of 1981, shortly before my graduation. We very quickly knew that we were supposed to be partners. Almost 42 years later, we are still partners, and he actually IS an old guy.
