Alba Newmann Holmes Presents at Major Writing Center Conference

Alba Newmann Holmes, assistant professor of English literature and director of the Writing Associates (WA) Program presented at the joint conference of the International Writing Centers Association and the National Conference of Peer Tutors of Writing in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She presented as part of a roundtable on "High-Impact Projects for Peer Tutors," led by writing center and writing program directors from several small liberal arts colleges. In her presentation, Newmann Holmes highlighted work done by Jordyn Bernard ’25 on accessibility for the WA Program.
Lena Habtu ’26, a Lead Fellow in the WA Program and Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow, also presented at the conference. Habtu’s presentation, "Reflective Practice, Reflexive Praxis: Responsibility and Cultural Dimensionality in Peer Conferences,” built off of her work as a Writing Associate and an Inclusive Excellence Fellow in 2023-24.
