Gustavo Schwed ’84

Gus Schwed

Gustavo Schwed ’84 is a professor of management practice at New York
University’s Stern School of Business, where he has received the
distinguished teaching award and twice been recognized as professor of the
year. He is also a visiting professor at Princeton University. Schwed was
previously a managing director at Providence Equity Partners and Morgan
Stanley. He has served on numerous corporate and nonprofit boards. He is
currently a lifetime board member at Oliver Scholars, which provides
educational services to underserved students in New York City.

Schwed was a member of Swarthmore’s Board of Managers from 2010 to 2022. He rejoined the Board in 2024, first serving as vice-chair from 2025-2026, and becoming Chair in 2026. 

Schwed graduated from Swarthmore with High Honors in economics in 1984
and earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1988.
