Yi-Hsuan Huang

Yi-Hsuan Huang is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science at Swarthmore College. Her research focuses on feminist political thought and normative democratic theory. Her current book project, Democratizing Exclusion, investigates when and how democracies can legitimately limit the political participation of their members to safeguard democratic governance.
Her research has received competitive funding from the National Institute of Social Sciences, the Graduate School of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and the Ministry of Education, Taiwan. Her recent work appeared in the European Journal of Political Theory.
Yi-Hsuan holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and an MSc in Political Theory from the London School of Economics. Prior to joining academia, she was a journalist and legislative assistant in the Parliament of Taiwan (the Legislative Yuan). She is also a recipient of the Pouliot Teaching Award of the Department of Political Science during her time at UNC, Chapel Hill.
