Three alumni recently joined Swarthmore College’s Board of Managers: Jeremy Brest ’90 and Colin Convey ’97 are new to the Board, and Tom Hartnett ’94, P’26, is rejoining after a short hiatus. Together, they bring decades of leadership experience across the private, nonprofit, and global development sectors, along with a deep commitment to the values that have long defined a Swarthmore education.

We're very fortunate to have such dedicated, committed community members who are willing to volunteer their time and experience to the College," says Board Chair Gustavo Schwed '84. "Their insights and perspectives will be invaluable as we work together to strengthen Swarthmore and ensure it continues to thrive as a premier institution of undergraduate liberal arts education."

Jeremy Brest ’90

Brest established Framework Capital Solutions Pte. Ltd. in 2005. The boutique corporate finance advisory specializes in complex cross-border transactions. He has served on several corporate boards, including Conrad Asia Energy and Pantheon Resources. Brest was a director with Credit Suisse First Boston (2001-2005) in Singapore and previously worked for Goldman Sachs in New York City, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.

Brest graduated from Swarthmore in 1990, earning a bachelor’s in mathematics with distinction. He went on to earn a J.D. and an MBA from Stanford University, and to serve on the Reunion Committee from 1999-2001. Brest and his wife Willow live in Singapore and have three children. Brest’s mother, father, and sister all graduated from Swarthmore. The Brest Family Endowment was established in 2004.

Colin Convey ’97

Convey is a partner in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs. In October 2025, he was also named global co-head of sponsor mergers and acquisitions. Convey joined the firm in 2009, was named a managing director in 2012, and was named a partner in 2018. He was with Bank of America from 2004 to 2009, where he advanced to vice president.

Convey graduated from Swarthmore in 1997 with a B.A. in political science and went on to earn an MBA from Columbia University in 2004. He has been a member of the Athletics and Well-Being Campaign Committee since 2024. Convey and his wife Leslie have three children and live in New Jersey. In 2023, they established The Convey Family Endowed Scholarship.

Tom Hartnett ’94, P’26 

Hartnett is co-head of Global Markets and head of Americas & EMEA Fixed Income at Mizuho. He joined Mizuho Securities USA in 2016 to lead its Americas fixed income platform, and his mandate has since expanded across EMEA and global markets. Earlier in his career he was a managing director at Deutsche Bank and Lehman Brothers, and he began in financial services in 1999. He has previously served on the board of SIFMA and on the Federal Reserve's Alternative Reference Rates Committee. Before finance, he was a senior engineer with EME Group.

Hartnett graduated from Swarthmore in 1994 with a B.S. in engineering and earned an MBA from Columbia University in 1999. He served on the Board of Managers from 2011 to 2023, chairing the Investment and Property Committees. He and his wife Rachel have two children and live in New York; in 2009 they established The Thomas Hartnett '94 Engineering Endowed Scholarship. Their daughter graduated from Swarthmore in 2026.
