Swarthmore's Career Services, Humanities and Arts Departments welcome a panel of alums to share the way they utilize skills learned in their humanities and arts coursework. A round-table discussion will follow with faculty from various humanities and arts majors.

Sophomore Planning: Resumes for English Lit and Ed Studies

Career Services showed  students interested in English and Ed Studies how to put together a resume that reflects their interests, skills and experiences as they relate to a proposed course of study.

Applying To and Successfully Navigating MFA (Creative Writing) and Ph.D. Programs

Swarthmore graduate Monika Zaleska (English Literature High Honors Swarthmore ‘13) spoke about the grad school application process and shared her perspective on successfully navigating grad school. Monika completed an MFA in fiction writing at Brooklyn College in 2017 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at NYU.  mmzaleska.com

Julie Phillips, Ursula Le Guin Biographer and Swarthmore graduate, speaks with English Majors and Minors

Julie spoke about building a career in freelance writing (including book reviewing, blogging, and book writing) and filmmaking.

Publishing Careers: Michael Pietch, CEO of Hachette Group

Michael is a parent of a Swarthmore alum; he shared his insights and advice in book publishing.
