The List Gallery of Swarthmore College is pleased to present The Black West in Color, an exhibition celebrating the historical and contemporary significance of Black Western heritage in America through the work of artists whose diverse practices explore race, identity, cultural legacy, representation, and memory.

The exhibition highlights the diverse ways that the landscape, environment, and spiritual visions of place have been depicted over time through more than twenty paintings, many of which have recently been assessed and received conservation treatment.
