The Chester Children's Chorus singers are 140 boys and girls from 8 to 18 years old who live and attend school in the Chester-Upland School District in southeastern Pennsylvania. The educational enrichment we offer is particularly important for them because the district’s schools are among the poorest-performing in Pennsylvania.
Children are invited to join the chorus on the basis of musical potential, enthusiasm, and family support. Our music staff conducts annual auditions in second-grade classrooms in every public, charter, and religious school in Chester, and a new group of second-graders enters the chorus every spring. Families pay a modest annual fee for Chorus participation.
