Research Funding + Student Employment

Student Employment

The Peace Collection typically employs 3-5 students each semester and during the summers. Most of our hiring is done in September, January, and April. Students typically work 4-8 hours/week during the academic year, and 35 hours/week in the summer. Check JobX, or email peacecollection@warthmore.edu to see if opportunities are currently available.

Moore Fellowship

The Margaret W. Moore and John M. Moore Research Fellowship provides a research stipend to promote research that uses the resources of the Friends Historical Library and/or the Swarthmore College Peace Collection. Strong preference will be given to projects that make significant use of resources available only on-site at Swarthmore College.

Moore Student Fellowship

The Moore Student Fellowship provides a $600 stipend for students to complete a 30-hour project researching a topic of their choosing using resources available in our collections. Applications are due annually in March. Learn more at the  Friends Historical Library website

Moore Fellowship for non-students

A stipend in the amount of $1,400 per week, for a minimum of one week and a maximum of four weeks, will be distributed to 2-6 researchers. Research fellows are expected to travel to Swarthmore to conduct their research on-campus (if possible) between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024. Learn more at the Friends Historical Library website.
