Queer History at Swarthmore

Students with marginalized gender and sexual identities have always played an important role at Swarthmore College. The first queer student organization, Gay Liberation, formed on campus in 1970. Since then, Swarthmore students have continued the legacy of being an active educational, social, and political force on campus. In recent years, we’ve worked to document and create a digital archive that explores the lives and experiences of Swarthmore alumni.
