Communications Center

Many parents are concerned about their child's safety on a college campus away from home. The Department of Public Safety shares this concern and is vigilant in its efforts to ensure that our campus is as safe and secure as possible.

The Department maintains a 24-hour Communications Center from which trained staff members monitor all fire and alarm systems on campus, operates the College's main switchboard, and dispatches calls over the mobile radio system. The information received by the Center's staff is immediately broadcast to on-duty patrol officers, as well as to Swarthmore Borough Police, who may also respond.

The Communications Center serves as a focal point for radio communications with Public Safety officers, the student shuttle service, and the Environmental Services staff. It can also serve as a central hub for communications, including closed circuit TV monitoring and control, during an emergency situation.
