Admission to the Program

After meeting with an Educational Studies faculty adviser, students complete a Sophomore Plan which outlines an individualized plan for meeting all requirements.  Formal admission to the teacher certification program occurs at the start of  EDUC 092: Curriculum and Methods  and EDUC 093: Practice Teaching.  Before admission, all candidates must have completed 12 Swarthmore College credits (48 credit hours) and the necessary courses as described in their Sophomore Plan.  Candidates must demonstrate appropriate academic preparation and performance, reflected by a GPA of 3.0, and by recommendations from professors.  Students must also meet the General State Requirements for Mathematics and English.
