2026 Summer Housing

Summer Housing is offered from Friday May 15, 2026 - August 1, 2026*.  All residence halls are closed between August 1st, 2026 and the start of the Fall 2026 semester (August 28, 2026 for returning students)

Students who have received a summer opportunity from the College receive priority status for summer housing reservations so long as all steps in the process are completed in a timely fashion. Failure to apply for housing in a timely manner may result in lack of summer housing availability or may result in you being placed on a housing waitlist. The Summer Housing application will be available in the Housing Portal in mid-February 2026. If you are off-campus, you may need to log in using a VPN to access the portal.

Summer Housing is available to students who are members of the Class of ‘27, ‘28 and ‘29.  Members of the Class of 2026 and students who are not currently enrolled at the College are not eligible for summer housing.

The default summer housing term is 10 weeks. Students may select a shorter summer term of 8 or 9 weeks, and are eligible for a prorated rent. There is no additional proration for terms shorter than 8 weeks during the summer. Students who accept a summer opportunity are not required to live in summer housing.   The Summer 2026 rent is:

10 Weeks = $1700*

9 Weeks = $1575*

8 Weeks = $1500*

The summer housing rent includes a small, partial meal plan to help subsidize your meal costs during the summer term. Specific hours of operation and total number of meals available will be shared closer to the beginning of the summer term. The meals provided are not meant to be a full meal plan and students should budget separately for meal costs during the summer term.

Please note: summer housing is prioritized for students who have received Swarthmore College sponsored summer opportunities. Depending on the number of students (with summer opportunities) who accept summer housing, space may be available for students who have not accepted College sponsored opportunities. Summer opportunities will be verified with respective offices/departments listed on the summer housing reservation form that students received via email.

Summer Housing assignments will be finalized by early May 2026. Students living in summer housing may be assigned to a single, double, or larger occupancy rooms in a variety of residence halls. Summer residence hall assignments are based on the total number of summer housing applications received and the Residence Hall Renewal plans.

Anticipated open summer residence halls may include: Crum Ledge, Mertz, Parrish, Woolman House

Please note that PPR Apartments (NPPR) will be CLOSED during the Summer 2026 term.

*Please note: dates and rates for Summer 2026 are subject to change if the College calendar is adjusted, or the availability of certain residence halls changes significantly.
