Information for Prospective Students

Dancers and musicians during the performance of the senior project of Kate Speer '08.

If you are considering dance at Swarthmore we invite you to come and take a class. We suggest that you look at the course offerings and then visit Admissions.

Dance is an open program at Swarthmore. Majors and non-majors study and perform side-by-side. Consequently there are no auditions for dance classes. Although there are no auditions, sending a DVD or digital video link (such as Youtube or Vimeo) of your dancing can be useful in the admissions process.

Your DVD or video link should be no more than 15 minutes in length and include as many as possible of the following:

  • your name and a brief statement regarding your dance experience
  • a performance sample in one or more styles (if the sample is a group work, indicate how the viewer can identify you)
  • a simple classroom combination videotaped from 2 different angles
  • a sample of your own choreography

Send Videos/video links to the Admissions office along with your application.
