Radiation Safety

The Swarthmore College Radiation Safety Plan was created to comply with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP), the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), as well as other agencies that regulate the use, transportation, and disposal of radiological materials and machines.

The documents linked below are applicable to all Swarthmore staff, faculty, and students that engage with, work with, or support spaces where radiological materials are located. The overall goal is to limit exposures to radiation to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).

If you wish to add a radiological source to campus, require access to the training module, or have any questions related to the documents below please contact Colleen Battista, EHS Officer and RSO
