International Student Advising

The International Student Advising Office provides information about U.S. government regulations, employment opportunities, taxation, vacation housing, English as a Second Language, community resources, and adjusting to life in the U.S.

Just before the fall semester begins, the Office sponsors a five-day orientation to which all international students are invited. There are discussions of U.S .immigration regulations, preparation for life at Swarthmore, a group meeting with College administrators, tours of the campus and Philadelphia, and an opportunity to go shopping. Students may move into their dorms and start on the College meal plan as soon as they arrive.

Although the Office serves mainly foreign students with non-immigrant visas, permanent residents, dual citizens, and all with a question about immigration matters are invited to stop by.
