Contest Details

Theme/Content: Each year, the College sends a short video to all its donors to express gratitude for their support. This contest offers students the opportunity to produce a video that expresses how much their Swarthmore experience has meant to them. We expect to send the winning entry in early July. Watch the 2015 Thank You video.
Length: To qualify for an award, videos must be at least 50 seconds but no more than 90 seconds in length.
Deadline: Those intending to enter the contest should notify Randy Frame at by April 6. Completed videos must be submitted via Google Drive no later than Wednesday, May 4. When ready to submit, please email for instructions.
  • Copyrighted music or video footage is prohibited.
  • A video may (but does not have to) express gratitude explicitly. It can focus on what the student values most about the College, perhaps, for example, completing the sentence, “Because of Swarthmore, I . . ..”
  • Creativity, substance, humor, and the capacity to move the audience emotionally will be among the judging criteria.
Additional Information: Students may enter more than one video into the completion. They may enter as individuals or collaborate with other students. (Collaborators will split awards evenly.) Winners will be announced by mid-May.
