Samuel Hayes

Hayes has been a professor at Harvard University since 1975 and is the Jacob H. Schiff Professor of Investment Banking Emeritus in the university's Graduate School of Business. He also has consulted for many private sector businesses and governmental agencies such as the U.S. Justice Department, U.S. Treasury, and the Security and Exchange Commission. He is widely published in academic and business journals and has written a number of books on the financial industry.

Hayes, an emeritus Board member since 2012, has served on the board since 1983. In addition to many civic leadership roles, he is also on the boards of academic and financial institutions including the American University of Beirut and the Easton Vance Funds Group. Heis also a member of the Harvard Musical Association and the Financial Management Association, among others.

Hayes earned a B.A. in political science from Swarthmore and an MBA and DBA from Harvard. He is married to Barbara Lloyd Hayes.
