Kwame Osei ’11

41b_osei_kwame.jpgKwame Osei '11, an economics major and computer science minor, was an intern at AXA Equitable in New York, where he worked as a business analyst in information technology (IT).

I applied to a career program called Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) that partners with many NYC-based firms. SEO provides you with more than 75 hours of training and mentoring before your internship begins. After I was accepted, I researched AXA to determine if it was a good fit for me. I was really impressed.

Working as an IT business analyst allowed me to use much of what I've learned in my classes at Swarthmore. The position required an understanding of computers and some general business knowledge, because I acted as a link between the computer programmers in IT and their clients in other departments such as finance, marketing, and sales.

My biggest assignment was to research ways to improve agent sales using technology and then present it to AXA's executive management committee. Making a presentation to the CEO was the high point of my summer.
