Peter Katzenstein '67

Peter Katzenstein ’67 is president-elect of the American Political Science Association (APSA). Katzenstein is the Walter S. Carpenter Jr. Professor of International Studies at Cornell University. His work addresses issues of political economy, security, and culture in world politics. In 2005, Katzenstein was named a Cornell Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellow and, in 1993, received Cornell’s College of Arts and Science Stephen and Margery Russell Distinguished Teaching Award. He shared the 1993 Masayoshi Ohira Memorial Prize, was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1987, and received the APSA 1986 Woodrow Wilson Prize for the best book published in the United States on international affairs. One of his edited volumes, The Culture of National Security, was selected by Choice magazine as one of the top 10 books in international relations in 1997. Since 1982, he has been series editor of more than 100 books published under the imprint Cornell Studies in Political Economy.
