In the WeedsI appreciate the spotlight shone on the newly emerging cannabis industry (“When the Smoke Clears,” fall 2018), but I think the piece could have been improved. First, more research might have identified alumni with deeper roots in the industry who have a better pulse on where things are headed. Second, the article missed some of the biggest issues facing the industry: the Schedule I status of cannabis, banking restrictions, and dark money. Finally, there are social justice issues that might have been raised by the emergence of this newly legal, giant industry.
