William Lipshutz ’63

box_lipschutz_william.jpgWilliam Lipshutz ’63 has been named a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) in recognition of his outstanding professional achievements and contributions to the clinical and academic practice of gastroenterology. In 1978, Lipshutz founded Pennsylvania Hospital Gastrointestinal (PHGI) Associates, a group of leading physicians that provide expert gastrointestinal care in the Greater Philadelphia Area. Since 2002, Best Doctors in America and America’s Top Doctors have recognized him as one of the nation’s leading gastroenterologists. He has published in Clinical Immunopathology, Practical Gastroenterology, and Digest Disease and Science on gastrointestinal disorders and treatments and has received accolades such as the Herbert S. Waxman Voluntary Faculty Teaching Award and the Jacob Ehrenzeller Award for Outstanding Contributions in Medicine. Previously, Lipshutz was head of gastroenterology at Pennsylvania Hospital but now teaches full time as a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
