Museum tours, wine tastings, and tournaments

Pasadena, Calif.: When Elizabeth Glater ’97 and Shanna Rose ’97 realized how many Swatties live and work in the Claremont and Pasadena areas, they thought it would be fun to get together. The pair hosted a casual gathering Jan. 25. 

Triangle Area, N.C.: Quaker matchbox couple Adam Dickinson ’00 and Susan Novak ’00 recently hosted a well-attended wine tasting in the North Carolina Triangle area. The event, which featured Chilean “sustainable wines,” provided funds for sustainability efforts at Swarthmore.

New York City: Alumni and parents attended a Jan. 3 women’s basketball game against New York University during a weekendlong tournament. The group gathered for an informal tailgate before heading over to cheer on the Garnet. 

Naples, Fla.: Members of the Garnet, Scarlet, and Golden Sages gathered for a special tour of Gods and Heroes: Paintings and Sculptures from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris at The Baker Museum in late February. Alumni from the Tri-Co schools and their guests saw more than 200 masterpieces on loan from the prestigious French art school. 

Paris, France: Paris Connections Chair Anaïs Loizillon ’95 welcomed Swarthmore alumni in Paris with two opportunities to connect: drinks, dinner, and discussion with Professor of Physics Frank Moscatelli as well as a theater outing to 4-1/4, a production by Erik Rehl ’94.
