Lauren Jacobi ’97—Rome Prize Winner

Lauren Jacobi ’97 has won a postdoctoral Rome Prize in Renaissance and Early Modern Studies from the American Academy in Rome. While in Rome during the 2015–16 academic year, she will work on her project, “Across Economic Geographies: Italian Trade Sites outside of the Peninsula, ca. 1250–1550.” She is an assistant professor of architectural history at MIT in the history, theory, and criticism program, part of the department of architecture. Jacobi has a Ph.D. from NYU with fellowships from the Kress Foundation, the Getty Research Institute, the Morgan Library and Museum, and the American Council of Learned Societies. She has written for The Burlington Magazine and Tabula Quarterly, and is former vice president of the New York Metropolitan chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians.
