Naturally Slim Program
Swarthmore College is part of the Philadelphia Area Independent School Insurance Group (PAISIG) through which we purchase our medical insurance plans. As part of their ongoing wellness efforts, PAISIG is sponsoring an exciting program called Naturally Slim.
The Naturally Slim program is a cutting edge approach to improving health by reducing Metabolic Syndrome, a condition that leads to serious ailments such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. In addition to improving individual health, the program can have a positive effect on the rising cost of health care for our group by reducing risk. Healthier members, in the long-run, reduce the College's utilization of medical services.
This program is offered at no cost to the participant. It is offered to any employee covered by Swarthmore College's healthcare plan; the candidates with the clearest markers of Metabolic Syndrome will be selected to participate. Accepted individuals will be asked to complete lab work that will serve as a baseline and complete a 10 week online program designed to improve metabolic condition. After completion of the program, lab tests will be repeated and measured against the baseline to determine reduction of Metabolic Syndrome.
Please note that the program is only available to Swarthmore College employees who are participants in one of our medical plans. It is not open to spouses, significant others or dependents, even those covered by a College insurance plan. Future expansion of the program may include a wider field of participants.
Participants interested in this program should submit an online enrollment application by April 8th. The application asks about weight, height, and other indicators to determine if you have Metabolic Syndrome. The secure application form is encrypted to ensure your privacy.
Make sure you follow the enrollment application link directly to participate in the program at no cost through the PAISIG initiative.
