Nimesh Ghimire '15½ returned to Swarthmore as Lang Center's Senior Fellow in Social Innovation and Engaged Scholarship after spending 3.5 years at Ashoka (www.ashoka.org), a global organization based in Washington DC that identifies and invests in leading social entrepreneurs. As Renewal Manager for Ashoka's Changemaker Campus program, Nimesh led the design, iteration and implementation of institutional re-commitment to social innovation education for over 40 colleges and universities (in 10 countries) in Ashoka’s network. He was deeply involved in experimenting with – and learning from – grassroots engagement and innovation models during his undergraduate years, having co-led the design and implementation of two Innovation Labs in rural Nepal – a collaboration and resource space for community members to come together to design their own solutions to pressing local challenges, supported by Swarthmore's Lang Center, MIT, and USAID's Global Development Lab. Nimesh is also a part of the core team/advisory of Nepal's National Innovation Center, an organization that has been instrumental in leading the country's fight against COVID-19.

Nimesh was a consultant to a European Commission funded project in 2019, collaborating with local teams in Uganda to identify and validate resilient education models (regionally) that contribute to safe school. In 2017, Nimesh served on Oxfam Netherland's expert committee  to help set up rural hubs in poor, traditional, and climate change affected areas (in four countries) for economic empowerment, with particular focus on enabling young women to be thriving entrepreneurs by ensuring safe mobility, access to finance, and mentorship. He currently serves as part of the advisory board for the program. A member of the British Council’s Global Changemakers network, he also worked as part of World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Next Generation, providing youth voice and perspective to issues pertinent to the next generation. In 2009, Nimesh was selected as one of Asia-Pacific’s 100 most promising young social entrepreneurs by FYSE.
