This session is required for any student who will borrow from the Federal Direct Stafford Loans program now or in the future.
Student Employment Information Session
9:30 a.m.–10 a.m. in Lang Concert Hall
Students share the ins and outs of working on campus, the new campus software JobX, and how to get paid.
Academic Advising Fair
10 a.m.–11:15 a.m. in Science Center
Representatives from all academic departments and programs will answer questions and assist with course selection.
Scheduling Your Academic Adviser Meeting
11:15 a.m.–12 p.m. in adviser’s office
Individual meetings with your adviser happen from 1 to 5 p.m., so stop by at 11:15 a.m. to schedule an individual meeting. Some advisers use this time for a small-group meeting, leading up to individual meetings in the afternoon.
Lunch with Your Orientation Groups
11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. in Sharples Dining Hall

You must meet with your academic adviser before you register for classes.

Scott Arboretum Plant Giveaway
1 p.m.–3 p.m. in Wister Center
While free plants will be available from 1-3pm, to keep the lines short, we suggest that students with last names starting with A-L attend 1-2pm and students with last names starting with M-Z attend 2-3 pm.
Half-Hour Campus Tours
1 p.m.–4 p.m. in Meet in Parrish Hall, Shane Lounge.
1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. (half hour program) in McCabe
Get a jump start on finding course books and making sense of college-level research! Sign up for a half-hour workshop at one of the Libraries (McCabe, Cornell, or Underhill). Meet a librarian and a RIA (Research & Information Associate) and walk away with free Library swag! Sign up for a time!
SAM Drop-In Hours
2 p.m.–4 p.m. in McCabe Library
Get academic advice from sophomore, junior, and senior SAMs on selecting your first classes and ask them questions about planning your course load.
Capture the Flag
1 p.m.–2 p.m. on Mertz Field
Come out to Mertz Field and play some old school capture the flag with your peers and meet some new faces along the way.
2 p.m.–4 p.m. in Shane Lounge
Play some board games with your fellow classmates in Parrish Parlors and Shane Lounge. There will be Card Against Humanity, Catan, and much more!
Job Fair Session 1
2 p.m.–3 p.m. in Sharples Dining Hall
Meet with many on-campus employers about available student positions in their offices/departments and submit your employment forms (W-4, etc.) at this event. Bring with you, the necessary required ID documents as detailed on the Student Employment website. (https://www.swarthmore.edu/student-employment) Session 1 and Session 2 are identical and this is not a first-come-first-served session.

Swarthmore now has everyone using DUO to better secure their accounts. Learn what you need to know about DUO and 2-Factor Authentication to make sure you keep access to your Swarthmore account - even if you lose or break your phone.
First-Gen and Low-Income (FLI) Student Session

As you enter college, it is a time for exploration both inside and outside the classroom. This session will explore introductory concepts in human sexuality, consent, and Title IX at Swarthmore. Interim Violence Prevention Educator, Hillary Grumbine and Title IX Coordinator Bindu Kolli Jayne will provide space for discussion, questions, and campus resources.
8:45 p.m.–9:45 p.m. in Locations Around Campus
Guided discussions will be facilitated by returning students.
10 p.m.–12 a.m. in Parrish Circle West—the Scott Amphitheater and Tarble Clothier side of Parrish
Philly is an awesome place for good eats, so the Orientation Committee is bringing you some of the city’s finest culinary treats. Hang out, grab a bite, and have some glow-in-the-dark fun.
