Orientation Frequently Asked Questions
When is Orientation?
International Orientation will begin Thursday, August 25. International students can arrive August 24 from 9 am to 7 pm or August 25 9 am until noon. Program begins at noon August 25 and ends the evening of the 28th
Full campus new student orientation begins Tuesday, August 29th.
How long can parents stay?
We welcome all of our families during the move-in process. The family and loved one program concludes on Tuesday, August 29th around 4pm. We have a resource fair for everyone open until about 2:30 and then a Family Welcome from 2:30-3:30. Family Farewells will conclude the family and parent programming after that. Our students will then jump into Orientation fully at around 4:30.
When will students find out their housing assignments?
Students will get their housing assignments and roommate information in early August.
When are new student forms due?

Can my student move in early?
Unfortunately we cannot have anyone move in early unless they are a part of a pre-orientation program. Students who participate in athletics, Swarthmore Summer Scholars Program (S3P), Summer Social Justice Institute, or FLI-POP will have their early arrival coordinated through their sponsoring program.
Can I mail packages ahead of time? How early?
We asked students to start sending packages no earlier than a week before arrival. The college Post Office does not have the space to hold the amount of packages that arrive for an extended time.

How do I get a parking permit?
Information about Parking can be found here- it is rare a first year will receive a permit unless they have needs for an accommodation. Accommodations can be submitted through the Office of Disability Services
When do I meet my advisor and pick my classes?
New student advising and registration occurs on-campus during Orientation week.
When and how can I access Career Services?
We look forward to working with you to explore career options and prepare for internships, jobs and graduate school once you arrive on campus. You will automatically be registered into our online platform, Handshake, to access appointments, events, and internship listings once the semester starts. We look forward to connecting with you during orientation and throughout your time at Swat!
