Staycation 2021

Welcome! We’re so glad you’re here.

In this official Swarthmore Staycation Landing Page, you’ll find an updated list of all the different events that will be hosted during Spring Break. One the schedule below, you’ll find all the events that Offices and Departments from around campus have put together for you to pick and choose from. Further down on the page, you’ll find a list of what spaces on campus are open, times, and some tips to consider for your Staycation. . If you have specific questions, feel free to reach out to the Office of Student Engagement or contact the office associated with the event.

One more thing. Each event has been categorized using the tags below. This is just a little way to show the type of options available as you plan your week.

  • Life Skills - Opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to teach a variety of skills or hobbies. This is structurally similar to the work of Peripeteia, or a skills swap.
  • Social - Fun events that students can participate in. These could include crafting, games, activities, and other experiences.
  • Well-being - Opportunities for students to exercise, meditate, and/or improve their mental and physical well-being.

Spring Break Schedule

There are a number of different ways, listed below, that you can use to keep track of the Staycation schedule. There are 35+ events, hosted by over 10 different offices on campus, that are happening between Wednesday - Saturday. Sunday has intentionally been left as a rest day and does not have any programming scheduled. You should use this day to catch up on work, rest, and hopefully some relaxation. A few important notes before you start perusing the schedule:

  • Some events are virtual and some are in person. Keep an eye on the listed location and look for zoom links where applicable.
  • Some events have a participation cap. You need to sign up for events that include a sign up link.
  • Speaking of signups - check back if an event is full, slots may open up. If you are no longer planning to attend an event you signed up for, make sure you delete your sign up. Often, it’s best to check right before an event starts for any last minute openings.
  • Keep an eye on the daily Staycation emails for updates and additional instructions for events.

Where to find an exhaustive list of all the Staycation happenings:

  • Schedule - This Google document includes all zoom and sign up links.
  • Google Calendar Link - Download a special calendar view to add all of the spring break events to your personal Google calendar. Once downloaded, you can delete events you aren’t interested in attending. If you are planning to use the calendar, you should also check the linked Google Document schedule to find links and updates.

Important Notes on TAKING A BREAK!

So you’re having a Staycation…!  While this document is full of fun and festive activities you can engage in over the week ahead, you should spend a moment thinking about what you need to do to recharge.  Do you need to take a nap, go for it! Do you want to enjoy some sunshine, go for a walk around campus.  Think about taking time to reflect over the last year and journal or meditate. Zoomed out? Close the laptop, no really, back away slowly from that laptop.  Whatever you do please be safe and take care of your mind, body, and spirit.
