Information for Visitors

McCabe Library in the spring

Swarthmore College Libraries are open to the public. Anyone may visit in person to view our exhibits and collections and access most online resources from our public computers. For information about visiting the Friends Historical Library and the Peace Collection, refer to their web pages.

Visiting Hours
  • Visitors are welcome in the libraries from opening time each morning until 8pm (6pm Saturdays.)
  • After these times, library entrances are restricted to OneCard holders.

Wireless Network Access
  • Self-service guest accounts to SwatGuest are good for 4 days and may be recreated when expired.

Use of Public Computers
  • Visitors may use computers for access to library resources and research purposes, but preference is given to Swarthmore College students, faculty and staff members.
  • Ask for login credentials at the Circulation Desk.
  • Remember to log out of your guest session before you leave.
Printing + Scanning
  • Visitors may use library scanners if they are not being used by Swarthmore College students, faculty and staff.
    • Scanned pages sent to your email or saved to a USB drive is cost free
    • Printing costs 10 cents per page
  • Visitors may print to public printers. Use the honor system to pay 10 cents per page at the Circulation Desk

Non Swarthmore College affiliated community members may make arrangements for borrowing privileges, some at no cost, and many for a nominal fee. See this page for more information. Once borrowing privileges are established, community members may borrow books and videos from only McCabe, Cornell and Underhill Libraries.

Use of Group Study spaces

Group study spaces are reserved for Swarthmore College students, faculty and staff.
