After receiving a BA and MA in English from Washington College, Jennifer completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Ulster in L’Derry, Northern Ireland in 1998. In 2000, Jennifer co-launched Peace Initiatives, Inc., a Virginia based nonprofit designed to deliver conflict resolution workshops to high school students.

Jennifer graduated with a PhD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University in 2008. Since then, Jennifer has taught peace and conflict study courses for Antioch McGregor University, Kennesaw State University, and Swarthmore College.

After serving as a leave replacement in the the Peace and Conflict Studies program during 2007, Jennifer joined the Lang Center in 2008 as Associate Director. In 2012, in addition to this role, she served as interim Peace & Conflict Studies Coordinator. Currently, Jennifer is the Senior Associate Director of the Lang Center for Civic and Social Responsibility where she advises individuals and groups of students striving to create social impact through innovative projects.

During her time at Swarthmore College, Jennifer has taught Introduction to Peace & Conflict Studies, Comparative Peace Processes, Conflict Resolution: Mediation in Theory & Practice, Social Entrepreneurship: From Ideation to Action, and Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Most recently, she has served as co-instructor for GNST 091.01 Chester Semester Fellowship (fall 2020, spring 2021), PEAC 014 Systems Thinking for Social Change (spring 2021), and PEAC 009 Introduction to Engaged Scholarship (spring 2022, spring 2023, spring 2024).
