Hardware Repair Technician Michael Rapp is responsible for the repair and maintenance of over 1500 computer systems owned by the College. In addition, he performs warranty and non-warranty repairs of Apple Macintosh and Dell hardware belonging to Swarthmore students. Swarthmore is an authorized service provider for Dell and Apple hardware.
Repair of College-owned equipment
Report and track problems with College-owned equipment at the help desk, x4357. The help desk will diagnose the problem and refer your system to Hardware Repair if needed.
Repair of personally owned equipment
Students can drop off their personal equipment for repair during regular business hours, Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - noon and 1:00-4:30 pm.
Warranty work is performed at no cost to you.
For out-of-warranty repairs, we charge to recover the cost of parts and labor. Labor charges are based on the complexity of the hardware problem.
Repair times vary according to the number of repairs, the availability of parts, the extent of the repair, and the time of year. You should also be aware that there is a priority on College departmental equipment and student equipment over personal repairs.
