One-week residency supported by a grant from the William J. Cooper Foundation featuring workshops and the North American premiere of the company's critically-acclaimed stage adaptation of playwright Witold Gombrowicz's satirical novel Ferdydurke. The Swarthmore performances also marked the world premiere of the company's English-language version of the original Polish production using Prof. Allen Kuharski's translation. The Swarthmore residency was followed by performaces in Philadelphia at the Arts Bank, the company's New York debut at Raw Space on 42nd St., and at the City Garage in Los Angeles. This was the first of three American tours of the production organized by Prof. Kuharski. Teatr Provisorium & Kompania Teatr also performed the English-language version of the show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2001, where it won a Fringe First.
