Modified Staff Practices During COVID-19

Dear Friends,
 
I am writing to share additional information for staff members following President Smith’s announcement earlier this week that the College will transition to remote learning for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester in response to the COVID-19 global health crisis. The decision is part of our effort to drastically reduce the number of students, faculty, and staff on our campus in the interest of social distancing, which continues to be the best practice to help mitigate the spread of this disease. The campus itself is no riskier than the region more generally.
 
Please review the attached document [pdf] carefully, as it contains important information related to remote working, staff designations, leave time, and the maintenance of core College functions over the coming months. I encourage you to contact your supervisor with any questions pertaining to your role, and to check the College’s COVID-19 website, particularly the Staff FAQ page, for  current information. 
 
These are challenging times for our community, but I am continually impressed by the hard work, ingenuity, and dedication demonstrated by our talented staff as we adapt to these unprecedented, challenging circumstances and work together to sustain Swarthmore’s vital mission to lead for the common good.
