Networking with Your Fellow Alumni
Join the Career Services Swatties Helping Swatties LinkedIn group. At over 2,000 members, our group is the third largest Swarthmore alumni group and exists so alumni can share career advice and information, post jobs and network with each other and students. There are also several career-specific Swarthmore alumni groups on LinkedIn, as well as a general Swarthmore alumni LinkedIn group.
Through the Alumni Online Community managed by the Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement, you can establish a Swarthmore email forwarding address and search the full directory of Swarthmore alumni for valuable career connections. View the career and education information of fellow alums to expand your professional network and learn of fellow alum’s career paths.
The Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement also supports Swarthmore's regional alumni organizations -- called Connections. Connection chairs plan a variety of programs including social, cultural, educational, community service and networking events that bring together Swarthmore alumni and parents in their area. The Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement offers other resources for alumni including alumni affinity networks.
Our Handshake jobs database enables you to easily search for opportunities; while the majority of opportunities are for recent grads, there are opportunities available for experienced alumni. To gain access to Handshake, visit our website and complete the form under "Alumni." Swatties Helping Swatties and other alumni LinkedIn groups are resources for experienced alumni seeking employment. Additional opportunities are available through our resource portal.
Career Shift organizes your job search, saving searches, employers, jobs, and contacts in folders. The site also includes email addresses and direct phone numbers for contacts. It searches for contacts and opportunities from any live link so it will pull in info from any database or any company website. Just use your Swarthmore email or personal email address to register -- the Group or School Identifier is Swarthmore.
Recommendation letters are kept on file in Career Services for alumni considering further study or for individuals requiring confidential reference letters for employment. To establish a file, simply tell those writing on your behalf to forward their letters to our office at firstname.lastname@example.org. Submit your request to us and we will gladly send your file to the locations you indicate.
