Reunion Planning Resources & Policies

The Reunion Planning Guide and other resources for members of class reunion committees are available on the Reunion Committee Information page. If you have questions about planning your reunion or your class reunion committee, contact Marty Roelandt (mroelan1@swarthmore.edu).

Entertainment Requests

Each year, Alumni & Parent Engagement (A&PE) receives a multitude of requests for bands and other performers. Space on campus that can accommodate these types of events is limited. Our office strives to offer a wide variety of entertainment to appeal to the broad cross-section of alumni who attend each year. We take into consideration the class year of performers, genre and style of performances, audio visual requirements, venue type, and budget.

For these reasons we ask all interested performers to complete this form by November 15. In late November A&PE, in consultation with the alumni selection committee, will consider all nominations and finalize entertainment options for the weekend schedule. Everyone who submits a request will receive a response early in the new year.

Requests received after Nov. 15 will be considered on a rolling basis. All requests that meet the deadline take priority over late requests.

Alumni performers do not receive direct payment, however we do find appropriate ways to show our appreciation for their time and talents. Invited bands are scheduled based on the College's needs and overall Alumni Weekend schedule; they are not permitted to perform past 11p.m.

Arrivals

On Thursday we welcome the 50th reunion class. All other arrivals are scheduled for Friday. If you are not in the 50th reunion class and need to arrive before Friday, we invite you to book your stay at one of the nearby hotels, such as the Courtyard Marriott in Springfield.

Off-Campus Activities

The College does not sponsor, in any way, off-campus activities during Alumni Weekend. The weekend is intended to be an on-campus experience offered by the College. If a reunion committee decides to lead something off campus, it is up to them and/or classmates to see the event through from beginning to end. The only exception to this is the 50th reunion trip to the Barnes.

Recording Requests

The Communications Office, in partnership with Alumni & Parent Engagement, selects a small number of Alumni Weekend programs to record for the College's website. Preference is given to content that is of broad educational interest to the Swarthmore College community and the general public; certain events are recorded for Swarthmore archives, such as Alumni Collection. Classes who wish to have panel discussions, lectures, performances, or any other programming recorded by the College during Alumni Weekend must submit a written request through this form no later than April 15. Communications and Alumni & Parent Engagement staff will review requests in late April and notify classes of their final decisions in early May. Requests for recording made after April 15 cannot be accommodated.
