Salem ShuchmanChair, Search Committee

Salem Shuchman is the founder and managing partner of Entrepreneur Partners, a Philadelphia-based private equity firm he launched in 2005. Shuchman rejoined the Board of Managers in 2013 after serving from 2000-12. In addition to his Board service, Shuchman was a Class Agent from 2002-04 and served on the Alumni Council in 1992. He earned a B.A. in political science from Swarthmore and received the Ivy Award.

Rhonda Cohen retired as a partner in the law firm of Ballard Spahr Andrews, Andrews & Ingersoll LLP. She lives in Philadelphia where she serves on the board of Delaware Valley Friends School, The Christopher Ludwick Foundation, Visit Philadelphia, and The Glenmede Trust Company. She earned a B.A. with distinction in psychology from Swarthmore, then a J.D. cum laude in 1980 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she was associate editor of the Law Review.


Anthony Foy

Associate Professor of English Literature

Anthony Foy specializes in black literary and cultural history and teaches courses on the African American novel, black autobiography, post-Civil Rights black culture, and the literature of black Philadelphia. His current book project reconsiders the development of African American autobiography from 1877 to 1965 by focusing on the influence of class formation and visual culture on black self-presentation in the 20th century.


Zenobia Hargust

Zenobia Hargust specializes in learning and development, employee relations, and staff policy development. She serves as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator and chairs the Faculty/Staff Development Committee and the Spring Gathering Planning Committee. She is also an active member of the College & University Professional Association for Human Resources, serving on the national committee for diversity, equity & inclusion.

From Newburgh, Ind., Jason Heo currently serves as Student Council Co-President and competes on the cross country and track and field teams. 


Harold "Koof" Kalkstein '78

Koof Kalkstein is a retired managing director of the Boston Consulting Group. He lives in Belmont, Calif., where he is active in the Quaker educational community, serving on the Boards of the San Francisco Friends School, including tenure as a clerk, and Philadelphia's Greene Street Friends School.


Gil Kemp '72, ex officio

After developing direct-marketing programs for books and newsletters for New American Library, Bantam Books, and Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, Gil Kemp founded Home Decorators Collection, leading the company as president until 2009. He currently serves on the board of the East Meets West Foundation, which supports health and education programs in Asia, and Let's Get Ready, which provides free SAT preparation and college admission counseling to low-income high school students. He graduated with honors with a B.A. in sociology from Swarthmore and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.

From Wilton, Conn., Isabel Knight's extracurricular activities include the Daily Gazette, Ultimate Frisbee, Jazz Ensemble, and theater. Additionally, she works as an admissions tour guide.


David Ko '92

David Ko President of the Swarthmore Alumni Council

David Ko lives in San Mateo, Calif., where he is the director of product management at NetBase Solutions. In addition to being Alumni Council President, he serves as an admissions interviewer and is a member of his local community emergency response team.

Professor and Chair, Department of Economics

Ellen Magenheim researches health economics, applying insights from behavioral economics to improve outcomes in health and financial behavior. In addition, she served as the associate provost and is currently a member of Council on Educational Policy. In 2009, she coordinated the Middle States Accreditation Review, and recently served on the Wallingford Swarthmore School District Strategic Planning Advisory Group.

Professor of Biology

Kathleen Siwicki specializes in the neurobiology of learning and sexual behavior in fruit flies. She is the coordinator of the neuroscience special major and the program director of Swarthmore's science education grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.


Sujatha Srinivasan '01

Sujatha Srinivasan Member of the Board of Managers

Srinivasan is a vice president in the securities division risk management group at Goldman Sachs & Co. She is also board treasurer of Legal Momentum, the nation's oldest legal defense and education fund dedicated to advancing the rights of women and girls. She holds a B.A. in comparative literature with high honors from Swarthmore.
