Make sure people know about your event!
Include the date, time, and location of your event, as well as any special details on all of your promotional materials . This will help people gather the details about your event and hopefully they will decide to check it out.
Make posters, print fliers, chalk the sidewalk.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday at 5 p.m. to place a blurb in the Weekend Events email. You may not advertise alcohol. All SAC-funded events are required to be advertised on campus.
Campus posting policy:
Advertisements, posters, and flyers, etc. may be posted only on public bulletin boards. Please do not post anything on light poles, trash cans, hand rails, walls, windows in doors, walkways, trees, bike racks, stairs, or to the doors of Tarble-in-Clothier. If posting is done to these areas, the person or organization responsible will be notified. If the postings are not immediately removed, the person/organization may be held financially responsible for removal, damages, and/or repairs as needed.
Special notes regarding party advertisements:
All SAC-funded events are required to be publicized on campus and must be open to all students. Generally, advertising is permitted for any event that is open to all students and free of charge.
Private parties for which a fee is charged may not be advertised on campus. These events are by invitation only.
Fundraising events that are held to raise money for a specific cause (Katrina Relief, Tsunami Relief, etc.) may be advertised, but it must be specified that "donations" are accepted and that a specific amount is not required to attend the event.
If there is any question as to whether or not some form of advertising meets these criteria, it should be cleared in advance with a Dean or the Coordinator of Student Activities. A $50 fine will be imposed for any illegal advertising or inappropriate signs.
