Hindu life at Swarthmore
The Hindu Club of Swarthmore (HCS) fulfills the needs of students who identify with or would like to become more aware of Hinduism. The group aims to inform the Swarthmore community about the Hindu faith. The HCS firmly believes in creating a safe-space for the practice of and education about Hinduism, individuals of other faiths or backgrounds are encouraged to participate in the group.
Meetings and Events
Weekly meetings based on Gita interpretation constitute the primary activity for the group. The HCS hosts and co-sponsors Hindu-related public events throughout the year. They also organize panel discussions about the progression and modern implications of Hinduism, and plan occasional trips to local Hindu centers. The group supports campus events such as an annual Holi celebration. They also host celebrations for major religious holidays such as Diwali (Hindu New Year) and Shivratri.
