How do I get my room key?
When you arrive at Swarthmore, go directly to your dorm room and move-in first. Then, head to Parrish 1st floor. There, you will receive an information packet that includes your Orientation schedule.
What if I need to drop off my stuff earlier?
This is a problem because the college does not have the personnel or space for secure storage before Move-In Day.
How shall I get my stuff there?
You can bring it, mail it, or UPS it. It should not arrive until Move-In Day. All types of deliveries go through our central post office in Parrish Hall. You will access these items through the post office.
What is my address?
All mail and packages go through the College post office. You will be assigned a mailbox each year, but the box number is not needed on the address.
Your address is:
Your Name 'Class Year
500 College Ave
Swarthmore, PA 19081
What about the items I purchased from the bookstore?
These items should be available at the bookstore when you arrive.
What do I do with my stuff over vacation times?
During the winter break you can leave your belongings in your room. If you live in Mertz, then you may have other Swarthmore students living in your room, but you can usually work out with them how they will treat your belongings.
During the school year you can store trunks and flattened boxes in the storage room in your dorm.
In the summer you have two storage options - Use the storage rooms in the residence halls for books, bedding, etc. There is a high security storage area in the Old Tarble building that will handle up to three items plus a bike. Here you might store valuables like your computer or stereo. It is open limited hours so watch for signs and notices of its hours. There is limited storage space, and no furniture can be stored in College storage areas. All Storage is first come first served.
What about insurance for my belongings?
Students are responsible for their own insurance for lost or damaged belongings. College insurance does not provide coverage for student belongings.
