Students returning to Swarthmore for the Fall 2013 term will select housing during the Spring 2013 semester, during the "Spring Housing Lottery"
Students wishing to live in College-owned housing have two options for selecting rooms:
- Block Housing
- Spring Housing Lottery
Returning students who apply for housing on-time and take part in the Spring Housing Lottery are guaranteed housing for the Fall and Spring terms. Students are never guaranteed, however, any specific 'type' of housing. Generally, all seniors receive singles. Many juniors receive main-campus singles; some juniors must choose between PPR singles and more centrally-located doubles. Some remaining juniors will select into doubles across campus. All sophomores should plan on having at least one roommate, will live in doubles or triples and may be placed in any dorm except Mertz, Wharton CD or Worth. Students who may be considered 5-year seniors, have changed class year since their arrival, or otherwise feel they should be considered for special housing should contact Rachel Head prior to April 1st.
Any student who applies for housing late or is deemed ineligible for the housing lottery at the time it takes place will be placed on a housing waitlist. We will work with each student to try and secure housing for him or her over the summer term. Learn more about housing eligibility requirments.
