New Groups for Spring 2013
CAPS Psychotherapy Groups
Swarthmore College Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) will be offering two 6-8 week process groups for the spring semester on Monday or Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
These groups will address many of the same issues students might bring to individual counseling but are particularly suited for those interested in working on social relationships and interpersonal difficulties, and who are open to a process of self-reflection and self-examination while interacting with others (peers). Ideally, the groups will help participants identify, acknowledge, understand, and change ways of experiencing and interacting with others and develop more effective coping skills. Participants will be expected to commit to attending for the entire meeting period.
Interested students will be asked to have a brief screening appointment to ensure a good fit with the objectives of the group and to discuss each student's personal goals. The groups are anticipated to begin in February; participation will be on a "first-come" basis. Once 8-10 students are identified, the group will be closed. To schedule a screening, please email Terry McGrath at email@example.com.
Please note that participants cannot be simultaneously in a group and in individual psychotherapy at CAPS. Once the group has terminated, students wishing to begin or resume individual appointments may do so.
