Welcome Pamela Prescod-Caesar
SAC members welcomed Pamela and briefly introduced ourselves. Time was taken to talk about SAC's role on campus including how we receive information from our circles and how that information is disseminated back to campus. We talked about some repetitive issues SAC has dealt with in the past and decided to create a frequently discussed topics section on the SAC webpage. Several SAC members asked Pamela about how community members were engaged at her previous employer and she talked about some of the initiatives that were happening there.
Spring Fling Update
Back in the Fall the committee did some information gathering and a survey was sent to the campus community regarding the Spring Fling event. The outcome of these initiatives showed that in general staff and faculty would prefer an event similar to the Winter Gathering so it was decided that in order to build community amongst our constituents the Spring Fling would be changed to a Faculty/Staff only event. The event will take place on May 16th from 2:30 - 4:30 in the Sharples dining hall and will be catered by DiBrunos or Drexelbrook. There will still be beer and wine along with non-alcoholic drinks offered. The committee is exploring possibly having a theme as well as a 50/50 and some games.
All Staff Meeting
The next All-Staff Meeting will be on Thursday, March 22, 2011 at 1:30 PM in the Lang Concert Hall. The agenda will include: a Strategic Plan update by President Chopp, a presentation by Ralph Thayer on the Climate Action Plan, a budget briefing by Sue Welsh and introductions of our new Vice Presidents.
Privacy concerns regarding sick time
A staff member bought a concern forward that information regarding their sick time / leave may have been shared amongst coworkers. If an employee calls their supervisor or HR to let them know they will be out sick a day and shares the reason why, that information will be kept private between the supervisor or HR and the employee. If an employee decides to share the reason they are out sick with a coworker they must realize that this information might be shared.
Sexual Misconduct Resources
Sharmaine handed out the Sexual Misconduct Resources chart and briefly spoke about the obligations the college has regarding reporting. She advised that if you are not a person included on the chart and a student starts to talk to you about an incident that you should try to stop them early into the conversation and talk to them about the resources available. If a faculty or Staff member has an issue they can go to HR or Sharmaine to discuss. Carebridge is also another confidential resource that faculty and staff can use. More information about the Sexual Misconduct Policy can be found here http://www.swarthmore.edu/x33769.xml

John Dukes has resigned from the College which will leave a SAC opening in the Magnolia Circle. Further discussion will take place as John had one more year left on his term on SAC.
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:35am
