Swarthmore Places Four On All-Centennial Women's Lacrosse Team

 

Swarthmore College placed four players on the 2001 All-Centennial Conference (CC) Women Lacrosse team as selected by the conference's ten head coaches.

The Garnet had three representatives on the first team and one received honorable mention. Senior defender Kristen English (Plymouth Meeting, PA &endash; Plymouth Whitemarsh), junior attacker Katie Tarr (Glen Mills, PA - Garnet Valley), and sophomore goalkeeper Jenn Hart (Columbus, OH &endash; Wellington School) all earned First Team All-CC honors while junior midfielder Mavis Biss (Latham, NY &endash; Shaker) received honorable mention recognition.

English makes the CC First Team squad for the third consecutive season, she becomes just the third player to earn first-team All-conference honors three times. English recorded a career-high 34 points scoring 25 goals and adding nine assists and led the squad with 78 ground balls. Tarr, a 2000 second-team All-CC pick, led the Centennial in scoring with 63 goals, which ranks 11th in Division III. Tarr added 16 assists to average 5.26 points per game, which ranks her 14th in Division III. Tarr now ranks fourth on both the Swarthmore career scoring and goals list with 241 points and 194 goals. Hart earns all-CC honors for the first time in her career. Hart led the CC in save percentage and goals allowed average, turning away 59.4% of opponents shots while allowing just 8.44 goals per game. Biss collected 32 goals and three assists for 35 points to earn honorable mention for the first time in her career.

The team recorded a 10-5 overall record and went 5-4 in conference play.
