Sherer Earns All-America Honors; Sets School Mark

Swarthmore College swimmer Ted Sherer (Middlebury, CT - Pomperang) finished seventh at the NCAA Division III National Swimming Championships in the 100 breaststroke to earn All-America honors. In addition, Sherer's trials time of 58:51 set school and Centennial Conference records. The championships were held at Emory University March 16-18.

The junior captain also earned Honorable Mention All-America recognition with a 16th-place finish in the 200 breaststroke which he covered in a time of 2:08.66. Sherer scored 13 points for the Garnet to earn the team a 36th-place finish, the highest in Swarthmore history.

Sherer becomes just the second Swarthmore male swimmer to earn All-America honors; the first was Robert McKinstry in 1975. Andy Robbins earned Honorable Mention All-America recognition in 1996. McKinstry earned his honors in the 500 freestyle while Robbins achieved his in the 200 backstroke.
